Rhipsalis pilocarpa – 75mm short pot

Rhipsalis are a group of cactus that have developed to survive in forests, many grow in trees hanging in branches like ferns. Most varieties flower in the spring with white or cream flowers, some are orange and pink.
After flowering many varieties produce berries in the summer and autumn months.

Rhipsalis are well suited to outdoor growing in almost all parts of Australia. They also make an attractive indoor plant.

Rhipsalis pilocarpa

Flower - Plants flower from 1 to 4 weeks in late winter/early spring. Many species form attractive long lasting berries in summer.

Light - Rhipsalis prefer shade levels of about 50%.

Potting - All Rhipsalis prefers open composted soils or in pots any potting mix.

Water - In extremely cold and wet climates keep plant dry in winter or provide a very well drained potting media.
Fertilize  - Fertilize well when new growth appears in Spring

Water - Keep well watered all through the growing season.  Reduce watering in winter to encourage flower initiation.

Trim - Plants can be cut back when looking tired to encourage new growth.
